Arthur Gajeski
PEABODYArthur Gajeski, 66, beloved husband of Susan (Cole) Gajeski of Peabody, died peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Stanley and Amelia (Plourde) Gajeski. He lived in Salem in his youth and attended parochial schools there.
Mr. Gajeski enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during the Cuban Missile Crisis and Vietnam War.
He worked at Household Finance which led to a career in Commercial Lending. He was affiliated with the former Beverly Trust Company which evolved into Bay Banks for 19 years, then with Century Bank in Lynn before a 10 year period with Beverly Co-op until retiring in 2001.
Arthur was involved in numerous community groups. He sat on the original, Founding Board of Directors for H.A.W.C. of the North Shore, the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army, Rotary Club of Lynn, the North Shore Consumers Credit Association, the Lynn Chamber of Commerce and earned the Dun & Bradstreet Community Service Leader Award in 1976. He also served as a Deputy Tax Collector for the Town of Marblehead, and received a Real Estate Broker License in 1966. Arthur will be remembered by friends and family as one who was an avid hunter of deer, enjoyed fishing for trout, an avid and talented Chess player, and valued his family as one of his grateful achievements.
He is survived by: his wife, Susan (Cole) Gajeski of Peabody, with whom he shared 39 years of marriage; two daughters and a son-in-law, Carol Ann Gajeski-Knight and Kelly Gail & Stephen Shoap, both of Peabody; five grandchildren, Alexander and Logan Knight, and Stephen, Stephanie, and Thomas Shoap; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Peter Thomas & Marge Gajeski of Wenham and William Gajeski of GA; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gary & Carol Cole of Peabody, and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday New Year’s Day from 3 to 7 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody.
His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM in the funeral home, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited.
Burial with Military Honors will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
