Obituary of Margaret (Dame) Grant

Margaret (Dame) Grant, 63, of Peabody, died Tuesday afternoon at the Massachusetts General Hospital following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of Robert Grant with whom she shared over 44 years of marriage. Born in Riverdale, MD, she was the daughter of the late Alden and Myrtle (Wright) Dame. She was raised and educated in Swedesboro, New Jersey and later moved to Peabody where she has lived for the past 40 years. She was working for Christian Brook Distributors in Peabody as an in house sales representative, a position she also held at Cardinal Health in Peabody as well. She also did a lot of volunteering for the Toys for Tots program for the past ten years. Mrs. Grant also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing. Besides her loving husband, she is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Steven and Jutta Grant of Millbury, Russell Grant of Amesbury, and Paul and Andrea Grant of West Chicago, Ill, three brothers, Alvin “Al” Dame of Ohio, Ernie Dame of New Jersey, Lynwood Dame of Arkansas, a sister, Roberta Lang of Arkansas, and is also survived by three grandchildren, Tashina, Daniel and A.J. Grant and several nieces, and nephews. Her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM at the First Parish Congregational Church, 1 Church St., Wakefield. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1 Bromfield St. Suite 5, Boston, MA 02108.
