Obituary of Rosemary L. (Smith) Howard

Rosemary (Smith) Howard, 87, of Chelmsford and formerly of Peabody, died early Monday morning at Lowell General Hospital following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late John J. Howard. Born and raised in Everett, she was the daughter of the late George and Ellen (Kelly) Smith. She attended Everett Public Schools and was a graduate of Everett High School. She later lived in Peabody for over 30 years and has spent the last year living in Chelmsford. She was a devoted wife and loving mother and family was everything to her. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Valerie Howard of Augusta, Maine, three daughters and two sons-in-law, Anne and Dennis King of Chelmsford, Patricia and John Gallagher of Stoughton, and Margaret Howard of Danvers, a brother and sister-in-law, Francis and Margaret Smith of Amherst, a daughter-in-law, Pamela Howard of California, and is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late John Howard and sister of the late George, James, Thomas, and Joseph Howard, Emma Johnston, Mary Fawell, Eileen Cheever, and Anna Smith. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Adelaide’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours are on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
