Obituary of Arlene M. (Davies) Hughes
Arlene M. (Davies) Hughes, 73 years, of Peabody, wife of the late Richard J. Bud Hughes, died Monday at the Peabody Glen Health Care Center in Peabody.
Mrs. Hughes was born on August 5, 1931 in Braintree daughter of the late Henry and Helen (Robertson) Davies. She was raised in Braintree and graduated from Braintree High School class of 1949. Before moving to Peabody in 1964 she resided in Stoughton.
Mrs. Hughes was employed for 10 years as a billing secretary at Puritan Medical Center in Salem. She was also employed for a few years as a teacher’ s aide at the Brown School in Peabody. Mrs. Hughes enjoyed her family especially her grandchildren and loved to travel with her sister and brother.
She is survived by 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Debra and Joseph Fazio of Burlington and Marianne Hughes of Peabody; a son and his wife, Richard J. Jr., and Christine Hughes of Patterson, NY; 5 brothers, Henry Davies, John Davies and Arthur Davies all of Braintree, Edward Davies of Hanover and William Davies of Hingham; 2 sisters, Marion Mulloy and Beverly Lindquist both of Braintree; 7 grandchildren, Rosalie, Terry and Paul Fazio of Burlington, Richard, Thomas, Alyssa and Peter Hughes of NY; many nieces and nephews. She was pre deceased by her siblings, Robert and Donald Davies.
Her funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur at the 20 Church St. location Peabody followed by a service at 10 a.m. in St. Ann’ s Church, 140 Lynn St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Friday 4 - 8 p.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial contributions maybe made in her memory to the Alzheimer’ s Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02172.
