Obituary of Jennie F. (Kuva) Sobutka

Jennie F. (Kuva) Sobutka Peabody—Jennie F. (Kuva) Sobutka, 89, beloved wife of the late Joseph D. Sobutka with whom she shared 63 years of marriage, died unexpectedly on Sunday evening January 6, 2008, at the North Shore Medical Center—Lynn Union Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Stella (Wlodyka) Kuva. She was raised and educated in Peabody where she lived for most of her life, and graduated from Peabody High School where she met her husband. Mrs. Sobutka worked alongside her husband as Proprietors of J & J Hardware Store in Peabody for many years. Jennie enjoyed being a nurturing homemaker and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. During her retirement she and her husband enjoyed square dancing, traveling, and family. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in Peabody before its closing, and was a member of the Holy Rosary Society there. She is survived by: two daughters, Francine Fialkowski and her husband Edward of Peabody, and Cynthia Murphy of Danvers and her late husband Timothy; four grandchildren, Mark & Brenda Fialkowski of Peabody, Kenneth & Laurie Murphy of Burlington, Richard & Nicole Murphy of Reading, and Lynda Murphy of Charlestown; five great-grandchildren, Joseph and Maxwell Fialkowski of Peabody, Heather and Ryan Murphy of Burlington, and Kelsey Murphy of Reading; four sisters-in-law, Sally Kuva of Peabody, Alice (Sobutka) Trubacz of Nashua, NH, Olga Sobutka and Leona Sobutka both of Danvers, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death, besides her husband and parents, by a brother Ed Kuva. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St. location, Peabody. Gathering at the funeral home on Thursday at 9 AM, relatives and friends are kindly invited to her Funeral Mass at 10 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
