Obituary of Ines (Cardosa) Da Silva

Ines Da Silva, 87, of Peabody, died early Thursday morning at the Peabody Glen Nursing Home following a brief illness. Born in Faial, Azores, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria Julia (da Tera) Cardosa. She was raised and educated in Portugal and in 1959 she immigrated to the United States and has lived in Peabody for the past 48 years. While living in Peabody, she worked as a presser for the New England Sportswear in Danvers for over 26 years before retiring a few years ago. She is survived by a sister, Maria Silva, a brother, Joseph Cardosa, a niece, Maria Fatima and a nephew, Jamie Da Silva, all of Rhode Island, her very dear friend, Ann Ortins of Beverly and her family and also by many friends at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Peabody. She was the sister of the late Elias and Antonio Cardosa. Her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street Peabody Facility followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held today, Friday, from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
