Obituary of John H. Batchelder

John H. Batchelder PEABODY—John H. Batchelder, 80, beloved husband of the late Mildred (Reardon) Batchelder, died Thursday evening at the Pilgrim House Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center in Peabody following a long illness. Born in Claremont, NH, he was the son of the late Alfred and Elbra (Smith) Batchelder. He lived there for years, and graduated from Stevens High School where he served as Class President. He then graduated from the University of New Hampshire. He lived in Peabody for the last 45 years. He served a patriotic duty by serving in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Mr. Batchelder started his professional career with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company,working in the Boston office as a Methods Consultant with over 40 years of service. He retired 15 years ago. Throughout his career, John got involved in Community Affairs with Junior Achievement. He was recognized and participated with the Mass Recreational M.A.R.E.S Group of Boston. He also enjoyed gardening, traveling with his wife to their Timeshare Vacation in Aruba as well as taking other adventurous journey to interesting places in Europe, the Mediterranean, and the world. He also enjoyed sports, especially football and the New England Patriots. He is survived by: a daughter Ellen O’Brien and her companion Tom Berry of Peabody; a cherished granddaughter, Ali O’Brien of Peabody, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife Millie and his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons Matt and John “J.B.” Batchelder, his brothers William and Thomas Batchelder, and a sister Rena Tracey. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 4 to 7 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody. His Funeral Ceremony will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 10 AM to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial with Military Honors in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
