Obituary of Margaret "Margie" Skrudgis

Margaret “Margie” Skrudgis, 88, of Peabody died on Monday January 14, 2008 at the Ledgewood Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Beverly. Margie was born on July 8, 1919 in Salem daughter of the late John and Petronella (Baratutti) Skrudgis. She was raised and educated in Peabody and was a lifelong resident of the city. Margie began her working career in the leather industry in Peabody and was later employed for 29 years as a leather marker at Verza Tanning in Peabody until it’s closing. She was subsequently employed for 9 years as a film processor at Eastman Gelatine Corporation in Peabody until her retirement in 1980. As hobbies, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and was a great cook. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra B. Lotito of Newburyport; a grandson, Stephen P. Lotito Jr. of Beverly; a special niece and her husband, Joanne R. and Jeffrey P. Morrissey of Amesbury; a grand nephew and 2 grand nieces, Raymond and Amie Marquis of Peabody and Darlene Morrissey and her fiancée Ryan Humes of San Dimas CA; her loving friends, Bob and Ann Carpenter of Peabody and their children, Robin & Tom, Bobby & Julie and Ronnie & Brandi whom she considered family members. Her nephew Joseph J. Verza and her 9 siblings predeceased her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday January 19, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody. Relatives and friends may pay their respect on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., (downtown location) Peabody. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the North Shore Cancer, 17 Centennial Dr., Peabody MA 01960.
