Obituary of Joseph T. "Joe" Breen
Joseph T. “Joe” Breen, 60, significant other of Teresa “Teri” Hilshey of Gloucester, died on Wednesday January 30, 2008 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington after a lengthy illness.
Joe was born on December 28, 1947 in Peabody son of the late Cornelius and Margaret (Minahane) Breen. He was raised in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School. In 1967, he enlisted into the United States Army and served a Tour of Duty in Vietnam from July 1968 thru July 1969 and then from May 1970 thru July 1970 and received his Honorable Discharge in September. Before moving to Gloucester 4 months ago he had resided in Danvers for 20 years coming from Peabody.
Joe was employed for many years at Gray Chemical Company and then as a landscaper with different North Shore landscaping companies. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching the Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics.
In addition to his significant other with whom he shared 21 years, he is survived by a brother and his wife, Jeremiah “Jerry” and Claire Breen of Fitchburg; 2 sisters and their husbands, Maureen and Richard Febonio of Lynn, Margaret and Dennis Nunes of Essex, many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews and his favorite mixed Beagle / Corgi Fred. His sister Patricia Smith of Rowley predeceased him.
His funeral will be held on Saturday February 2, 2008 at 10 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St. (downtown location) Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Friday 4 to 8 p.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the New England Organ Bank, One Gateway Center, Suite 202, Newton, MA 02458.
