Obituary of Edward C. Knox

Edward C. Knox, 82, of Lynnfield and formerly of Hyde Park and South Boston, died Tuesday afternoon at the Kindred Hospital in Peabody following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Margaret (Crowley) Knox. Born in South Boston, he was the son of the late Clarence and Catherine (Doherty) Knox. He was raised and educated in South Boston and was a graduate of Boston English High School, class of 1942. After High School, he entered in the military and served for the United States Navy during World War II, and was Honorable discharged in March of 1946. After the war, he worked for the United States Post Office as a manager of the Boston Branch for over 30 years, retiring at age 55. After his retirement, Edward enjoyed traveling with his wife Margaret to all corner of the earth and he would winter in Florida. Besides his loving wife of 56 years, Edward is survived by his three loving daughters, Ruth Knox and Dianne and her husband Dennis Cassidy, all of St. Cloud, Florida, and Kathleen and her husband Steven Tedesco of Peabody, and is also survived by his loving four grandchildren Nicole Guiliani, Steven and Shawn Tedesco and Allison Cassidy. He was the brother of the late Ruth Knox who died in the Coconut Grove Fire. His funeral service will be held on Friday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Ann’s Church, Peabody to relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours are on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
