Obituary of Mae Y. Wong

Mae Y. Wong PEABODY—Mae Y. Wong, 82, beloved wife of the late David Wong, died peacefully Wednesday afternoon in the presence of her family at her daughter’s home in Haverhill following a long illness. Born in Canton, China, she lived there in her youth. After she was married, she emigrated to the United States, settling in Peabody in the 1947. Together with her husband, they owned and operated the Ding Ho Laundry which started on Central St. then moved to its Lowell St. location for many years until her retirement in 1990. She enjoyed gathering with her Knitting Group, loved watching the Boston Red Sox, and mostly enjoyed nurturing her family and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by: four daughters, Linda Charney of Chatsworth, CA, Nancy Dobson of Keighley, England, Joanne Kostas of Boxford, and Jean McGondel of Haverhill; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; a brother, Bing Gee of Vancouver, Canada, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband David and her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Wong in CT. Her Funeral Ceremony will be held on Monday at 12 Noon in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will precede from 10 to 11:45 AM in the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
