Obituary of Cora (Smith) Duggan

Cora Duggan, 85, of Peabody, died Thursday February 7, 2008 at a local nursing facility in Peabody following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Daniel J. Duggan. Born on March 28, 1922 in Russellville, Alabama she was the daughter of the late Norman and Willie May (McGinn) Smith. She spent her childhood growing up in the South. Upon her marriage in the mid 1940’s, she moved to Peabody where she has lived for over the last 60 years. A retired nurse, she worked for many years at the former Danvers State Hospital and private duty nursing. Cora enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren, and she is survived by two daughters, Catherine Mannke of Peabody and Carolyn Maddocks of Naples, Florida, also by six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, James C. Duggan, her parents, and twelve brothers and sisters. Following cremation, a Memorial Service will be held later in the spring.
