Obituary of Margaret (Gorham) Worthy

Margaret (Gorham) Worthy PEABODY—Margaret (Gorham) Worthy, 71, beloved wife of the late Edward H. Worthy, died unexpectedly Sunday March 9, 2008 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH following an ill turn a week ago Sunday. Born in Roundstone, Galway, Ireland, she was the daughter of the late Valentine and Celia (Folan) Gorham. She lived there until emigrating to the United States, settling in Boston where she lived until moving to Saugus. She lived in Peabody for the last eight years. Mrs. Worthy enjoyed her life in a simple manner, as mother and grandmother, and was one who was very devoted in her Catholic faith. She worked in the Rectory at a Boston church before being married. She enjoyed the ocean, bike riding, and visits to Plum Island. She was one of 12 siblings, 11 of whom remained in Ireland. She is survived by: a daughter and son-in-law, Sheila & George Mandragouras of Hollis, NH; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard & Lisa Worthy of Chester Springs, PA and Edward Worthy of Peabody; six grandchildren, Julie, Andrea, and Emily Mandragouras and Ryan, Brendan, and Richard Worthy; a cherished niece, Sheila Donovan of Braintree, and several other nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 8 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home at 8 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM in St. John the Baptist Church in Peabody. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to the Zold-Worthy Scholarship, c/o Salem State College, Lafayette St., Salem, MA 01970.
