Obituary of Stephen Kapantais
Stephen Kapantais, 88, of Naples, Florida and Salem, died peacefully early Monday morning at the Naples Community Hospital following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Lorna (Buxton) Kapantais and was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor I. (Wettergreen) Kapantais.
Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Emmanuel and Argero (Hiotis) Kapantais. He was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School. Mr. Kapantais was a veteran of World War II who served with the United States Navy.
After the war, he embarked on a 40 year career working as quality control inspector in the Aircraft Engine Division for the General Electric Company in Lynn.
Mr. Kapantais was a Master Mason of the Jordan AF & AM Masonic Lodge in Peabody. He also was one of the founding fathers of the Aleppo Temple Shriners Clown Unit. He volunteered for many years entertaining children at the Shriners Burns Hospital and was very active organizing parades and other Shrine Activities. Because of all his dedicate work; he received the title of Boss Clown Emeritus. He also was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. Mr. Kapantais was also a long time member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody.
Besides his loving wife of the past 40 years, he is survived by a son, Michael P. Kapantais and his wife Stephanie of Lyman, ME, a daughter, Maureen L. Alexander of Naples, FL, and a son, Stephen C. Kapantais and his wife Rosemary of Salem, and is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late George Kapantais and Mary McDonald.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody Facility. His Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
