Obituary of Elizabeth May (Mountain) Martin
Elizabeth May (Mountain) Martin, 79, of Peabody, died early Saturday evening at her home following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of Charles E. Martin Sr., with whom she shared over 57 years of marriage.
Born in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mildred (Waldorf) Mountain. She was raised and educated in Somerville, attended Somerville Public Schools and was a graduate of Somerville High School, class of 1943
She later lived in Wakefield for 22 years and has been living in Peabody for the past 20 years.
In addition to being a devoted mother and homemaker, she worked for ten years as a clerk for American Mutual Insurance Company in Wakefield. She also enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Charles E. Martin Jr., and his wife Pamela of Wakefield, and Kenneth Martin of Londonderry, NH, a daughter, Jayne Martin of Wakefield, three grandchildren, Ethan, Rebecca, and Timothy Martin, several nieces and nephews, and her beloved cat, Sherman.
Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church Street, Peabody facility to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Interment will be private.
