Obituary of Gertrude Lazarakis

Gertrude Lazarakis, 87, of Peabody, died Thursday, March 13, 2008 at the Salem Hospital after a brief illness. Miss Lazarakis was born on August 2, 1920 in Peabody daughter of the late Nicholas K. and Katherine (Lecakis) Lazarakis. She was raised and graduated from Peabody High School. She was a lifelong resident of the city. Miss Lazarakis was employed as an office manager at Georges Transportation and later at Deli Mart until her retirement in 1964. A brother, Theodore “Ted” Lazarakis of Peabody; a niece, Catherine Morrissey of Methuen; a nephew, Nicholas Lazarakis of Peabody; grand nephews and grandniece survive her. Her brother Gus Lazarakis predeceased her. A family graveside service was held on Monday, March 17, 2008 at Greenlawn Cemetery, Orne Street, Salem. As per her request there will be no visiting hours.
