Obituary of George S Boulakes
George S. Boulakes, 86, husband of Virginia (Pappas) of Peabody, died Thursday, March 20, 2008 at the Rosewood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Peabody.
Mr. Boulakes was born on May 8, 1921 in Lynn son of the late Stephen and Helen (Scaltsas) Boulakes. He was raised in Lynn and graduated from Lynn Classical High School. During WW II, he served as a Tec 4 in the U.S. Army and was attached to the Headquarters Company 10th Replacement Depot and served in England for 39 months and received the European African Middle Eastern Theater. He moved from Lynn to Peabody in 1949.
Mr. Boulakes was employed at Lewis Candy Company in Malden and later as a salesman with a freight company until his retirement. He was a devoted father and husband and was a member of St. Vasilios Men’s Club in Peabody and the American Veterans Club in Lynn.
In addition to his wife, 3 sisters, Bea Christopher of Wenham, Christine Donohue of Lynn and Katherine and her husband John Kozakis of Scottsdale AZ; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews survive him. His son Stephen George Boulakes and his brother Harry Boulakes predeceased him.
A private family service was held on Monday, March 24, 2008 at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Burial was in cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
