Obituary of Salvatore Bavaro

Salvatore Bavaro, 66, of Peabody, died Monday afternoon at the Beth Israel Hospital following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Joan M. (Amoroso) Bavaro with whom he shared over 43 years of marriage. Born in Serra di Pratola, Italy, he was the son of the late Domenicoantonio and Mariantonia (Chiumento) Bavaro. He immigrated to the United States in 1949, settled in Everett and graduated from Everett High School in 1955. He later received his Master’ s Degree from Cambridge College in 1991. He has been living in Peabody for the past 34 years. He was an upholstery, woodworking, science and technology teacher who taught in the Peabody, Chelsea, and Winthrop School systems for over 25 years before retiring in 2003. He enjoyed walking, traveling, and being around his family. He also spoke three different languages, English, Italian, and Spanish. He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, James Bavaro of Peabody and Robert and Theresa Bavaro of Everett; a daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Michael Rice of North Andover; six grandchildren, Amanda, Anthony, and Christopher Bavaro, and Alexander, David, and Jason Rice, and is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Orazio, Franco, and Maria Bavaro. His funeral will be held on Friday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Adelaide’ s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Thursday from 4 until 8 PM. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
