Obituary of Frederick "Fred" R. Bresnahan

Frederick R. Bresnahan PEABODY—Frederick R. Bresnahan, 79, beloved husband of Eileen (Collins) Bresnahan, died peacefully Wednesday evening at the Ledgewood Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center in Beverly after a brief illness. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Michael H. and Margaret M. (Leahy) Bresnahan. He graduated from Peabody High School, and was a lifelong resident of the city. Fred applied his talented gifts in the craft of Painting and Decorating by working and teaching throughout his career. He was a Painter and Instructor of Painting with the Painters and Allied Trades Union, Local DC 35 of Boston and Local 1138 of Dorchester. Although he retired in 1995, he continued to teach at Whittier Tech in Haverhill where he taught for many years. He also taught in the Apprentice Program for the Union in Boston. Mr. Bresnahan served in the United States Navy during the Korean War, and served in the Submarine Division. He was a member of several local organizations, including the American Legion and VFW in Peabody, the Elks in Peabody and A.O.H of Peabody. He lived his life simply and will be remembered as very devoted to his family. He is survived by: his wife, Eileen (Collins) Bresnahan of Peabody, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage; a daughter and son-in-law, Kim M. & Mark Bass of Norwich, CT; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Timothy & Debra Bresnahan and Gary Bresnahan, both of Peabody; three grandchildren, Megan M. Bresnahan, Fred Bresnahan, and Eric Bresnahan; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Francis J. & Dorothy Bresnahan of Peabody and Philip & Lillian Bresnahan of Ireland, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death, besides his parents, by a sister Barbara Murphy. His funeral will be held on Saturday at 12 Noon from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 1 PM in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held today from 4 to 8 P.M. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
