Obituary of James Irish
James Irish, 74, of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina and formerly of Peabody died Tuesday in South Carolina. He was the devoted husband of Ann (Singleton) Irish with whom he shared over 33 years of marriage.
Born, raised and educated in Peabody, he was the son of the late Henry and Marjorie (Mahoney) Irish. He worked for over 20 years as a dispatcher for Aggregate Industries in Swampscott.
Besides his wife he is survived by a loving son, Sean Irish, Political Consultant and Executive Committee Person in the Democratic Party for the State of South Carolina, and by his beloved dog, Samson and many dear friends.
The Irish family considers New Orleans a second home and would like to help restore the city. More than two years after Hurricane Katrina, residents of the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans are struggling to rebuild and desperately hoping to return to their homes. Brad Pitt started the “Make it Right” project to help these displaced residents preserve the unique culture and spirit of the Lower Ninth Ward. The family asks you to consider making a tax deductible contribution to this project in lieu of flowers and Mass Card’s in my father’s memory. Together we can help to build the “James H. Irish Memorial House” as part of a neighborhood of safe homes in one of the hardest hit communities in Louisiana. Contributions can be sent to Make it Right, 235 Massachusetts Ave, NE, Washington, DC 20002, Attn: Kim Johnson.
Following cremation in South Carolina, his funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home,82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00 AM in St. John’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
