Obituary of Eleanor M. (Mc Donald) Boyd

Eleanor M. (Mc Donald) Boyd Peabody-- Eleanor M. (Mc Donald) Boyd, 95, died peacefully at Rainbow Nursing Center in Peabody on Monday April 7, 2008. She was the wife of the late Thomas A. Boyd. Born and raised in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Septimus and Mary ( Mc Carthy ) Mc Donald. A graduate of Saint John Elementary and High Schools and Salem Commercial School, she worked at Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., Veeder Root, Salem Welded Products and Bergeron Plumbing of Salem. A lifelong resident of Peabody, Eleanor married Tom in 1940 and raised a family. She was a communicant at St.Thomas the Apostle Church in Peabody, and also was a communicant for many years at St. John the Baptist Church in Peabody where she was active with the Ladies Sodality. She is survived by three sons, Thomas Jr. ,and his wife Eileen of Bolton Ct., Joseph of Peabody and Richard of Lynn, and a daughter-in-law, Jo Sullivan of Lynn. Two other sons, Alan, of West Yarmonth who passed away last year and Donald who died in infancy, predeceased her. She was also predeceased by three siblings, Raymond of Virginia, Edward of Maine and Mary Power of Peabody who recently passed away. In addition to four grandchildren, Colin, Alexander, Peter and Samuel Boyd, she is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
