Obituary of Jeannette M. (Romanovitz) Grenier

Jeannette M. “Auntie Nut-Nut” (Romanovitz) Grenier, 71, of Salem, wife of the late Charles J. "Sonny" Grenier Jr., died Thursday, April 10, 2008 in the Danvers Twin Oaks Nursing Facility. Jeannette was born on June 23, 1936, in Peabody, daughter of the late Roman and Anna (Markowski) Romanovitz. She was raised in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School. For most of her life she resided in Salem. Jeannette began her working career at Ideal Shoe Company in Danvers. She then became a short order and was employed at several local sub shops and also worked with her nephew at his North Street Pizza shop in Salem until it’s closing. In 1998, she retired from D’Angelo Sandwich Shop in Peabody. Jeannette loved to cook, fish and play cards. Jeannette is survived by her sister, Joanne Atkinson of Danvers; a sister-in-law, Rose Romanovitz of Peabody; her nephews and nieces, Paul and Bunny Atkinson of Danvers, Mark and Deborah Romanovitz of GA, Donna and Anthony D’Alfonso of ME and many other nieces and nephews. Her siblings, Julia Martinuk, Wanda, Roman, Alex, John and Donald Romanovitz predeceased her. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. facility, Peabody. The family will receive family and friends on Tuesday from 9:45 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial of ashes will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
