Obituary of William M. Mackey
William M. Mackey, 72, of Ormond Beach Fla, and formerly of Beverly died suddenly on January 31, 2008 at his home in Ormond Beach, Florida.
Born in Beverly, he was the son of the late Henry and Hazel (Carr) Mackey. He was raised and educated in Beverly and attended Beverly High School. After high school, he entered the United States Navy and served during the Korean War.
After the war, he was employed at the United Shoe in Beverly in the foundry for over 39 years before retiring. After his retirement he lived in Seabrook, New Hampshire before finally settling in Ormond Beach Florida.
William was a well known musician on the North Shore and was a member of the 3 Kings and a Jack and the Harmonichords.
He is survived by three sisters, Jeanne A. Carter and her husband Harold of Peabody, Carol White of Beverly and Sally Donahue of Danvers, and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the family lot at the North Beverly Cemetery in Beverly to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
