Obituary of Josephine (Royal) Lygomenos

Josephine (Royal) Lygomenos, 81, of Peabody, died Saturday afternoon at the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Stephen C. Lygomenos. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late George and Margaret (Reedy) Royal. She was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School. She later lived in Swampscott before returning to Peabody in 1991. She was a member of the Daughters of Penelope and Sweet Adelines. She also enjoyed traveling and singing as well. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Markella Lygomenos of Peabody and Margaret and Timothy Rodgers of Beverly, and two grandchildren, Colby and Sean Rodgers and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Menalos and Leo Royal, Della Kirlis, Mary Hentschel, and Helen DeLuca. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street Peabody followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00 AM in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 3:00 until 7:00 PM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
