Obituary of Stella Frances Magesky

Stella Frances Magesky, 79, of Peabody, died early Saturday morning at Salem Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Sophie (Filipowicz) Magesky. She was a life long resident of Peabody and a graduate of Peabody High School. After high school, she attended Burdette Junior College and received her Associates degree. She worked in the accounting office for over 25 years at the former AC Lawrence Company in Peabody and before finally retiring in 1992, she worked an additional 11 years for General Electric in Lynn. Stella was an active participant in life, she had no children of her own, but the times she spent with her nieces and nephews were very special to her. She had a special gift that made everything homey and nice for the holidays and family gatherings, and everyone especially enjoyed her polish cooking. In her retirement, she enjoyed volunteering for the Council on Aging at the Peter A. Torigian Community Center. She also enjoyed reading and traveling, doing crosswords puzzles and was a member of AARP and book clubs. Stella is survived by her sister and her best friend, Josephine Magesky of Peabody, a brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Mona Magesky of Peabody, her sister, Pauline Wojtonik of Derry, NH, a sister-in-law, Mary Magesky of Peabody, and by many loving and devoted nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Adolph and John Magesky, Mary Jean, Julia Maney, and Anna Rybinski. Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
