Obituary of Joseph Medeiros

Joseph Medeiros PEABODY—Joseph Medeiros, 63, beloved husband of Rosa Faria of Peabody, died unexpectedly on Friday morning at the North Shore Medical Center—Salem Hospital. Born in Terceira, Azores, Portugal, he was the son of the late Jaime Medeiros and Humberta Borges. He lived there for most of his life, and came to the United States 20 years ago. He first lived in Somerville, then Haverhill, and lived the last 16 years in Peabody. Mr. Medeiros was an Electrician in Terceira, and while on the North Shore he worked for Blair Industries. Joseph enjoyed the ocean and collecting in the nautical motif. He collected boats, especially tall ships, lighthouses, and many car models. He liked to visit Nahant Beach where he taught his grandchildren to swim, and mostly valued gatherings of his family. He is survived by: his wife, Rosa Faria of Peabody, with whom he shared 46 years of marriage; one son, Louis Medeiros of Natick; six daughters, Berta Vieira of Pawtucket, RI, Christina Medeiros, Luisa Simoes, and Ana Paula Medeiros all of Portugal, Luciana Turgeon of Beverly, and Patricia Medeiros of Warwick, RI; seven grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, and Jessica Vieira, Brianna and Brian Turgeon, Nuno Simoes, and Lucas Medeiros; two brothers, Paul Medeiros and Jaime Medeiros both of Portugal, and several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Monday from 5 to 8 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Tuesday at 9 AM from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody.
