Obituary of Stefania (Prochowska) Kaminski

Stefania (Prochowska) Kaminski, 95, beloved wife of the late Jozef Kaminski, died Friday evening at the Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport after a long illness. Born in Lodz, Poland, she was the daughter of the late Andrzej & Jozefa (Klarzynska) Prochowski. Mrs. Kaminski owned and operated a Beauty Salon in Poland before emigrating to the United States on July 6, 1965. She lived in Peabody for the last 40 years. Stefania will be remembered for her enjoyment of flowers and gardening, crafts, making sweaters, scarves and other clothing articles for her family and friends, and instilling a sense of how family was an important value. She was also member of St. Joseph’s Church, and the Council on Aging in Peabody. She is survived by: a son, Michael Kaminski of Manchester, NH; two daughters, Elizabeth Kaminska-Polnicki of Dexter, ME and Krystyna Kaminska-Gillis of Rowley; 10 grandchildren, Kaitlin, Jozef, John, Mike Jr., and James Kaminski, Adam and Andrew Polnicki, and Jolanta, Jagosia, and Alana Gillis; five great-grandchildren, Camdyn Sudbay, Nickolas and Matthew Kaminski, and Alex and Amanda Polnicki; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death, besides her husband and parents, by an infant Basia Kaminska, and several brothers and sisters in Poland. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 8 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Wednesday at 10 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in St. John’s Church, Peabody. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Memorial donations may be made to the Merrimack Valley Elder Services in Lawrence.
