Armond Sigman

Obituary of Armond J. Sigman

Armond J. Sigman, 83, beloved wife of Bernice “Lorraine” (Tudal) Sigman, died unexpectedly on Friday evening at the North Shore Medical Center—Salem Hospital after taking an ill turn earlier this week. Born in Middleton, he was the son of the late John and Josephine (St. Pierre) Sigman, and lived most of his life in Peabody. Growing up on his family’s farm, he was the last from his generation of Sigmans, one of 12 siblings, two of whom died in infancy, and attended Peabody schools. He was a veteran of World War II, with service in the United States Navy. Besides his love of nature and talent for gardening, Armond—who was affectionately known as “Uncle Babe” by his nieces and nephews, was a gifted handyman who loved to work in the yard, make birdhouses and other clever woodcrafted items. He was a longtime communicant of St. Adelaide’s Church, a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion in Peabody, and dedicated to his wife and nieces, nephews, and extended family. Mr. Sigman worked as a Machinist at Bostic Corporation in Middleton for over 37 years, retiring 21 years ago. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine (Tudal) Sigman of Peabody, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Wilfred, Theodore, Frank, and Euclid Sigman, and sisters Lillian Conboy, Ida Fay, Marie Willis, Cecile Ross, and Joan Brown. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Adelaide’s Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 - 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Jean’s Cemetery, Lynn.
