Obituary of Alexander G. "Spotty" Tsaltas

Alexander G. “Spotty” Tsaltas, 83, husband of the late Elizabeth (Kozik) Tsaltas, died on Thursday, May 22, 2008 at the Shaughnessy-Kaplan Rehabilitation Hospital in Salem after a lengthy illness. Mr. Tsaltas was born on October 12, 1924 in Dorchester, son of the late George and Stella (Stathopoulas) Tsaltas. He was raised in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School. Following his graduation in 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a Technician Fourth Grade with the Detachment M 4025th Signal Service Group until receiving his honorable discharge in 1946. Spotty was employed for many years as a bar manager at the Marblehead VFW Post 205 until his retirement. He was also employed as a full and part time bartender at several North Shore area businesses. He was a member of the VFW Post 205 in Marblehead, enjoyed playing cards and most of all spending time with his family on special occasions and gatherings. He is survived by his children, Nadine Biro and her husband Albert, David Tsaltas, Robert Tsaltas all of Peabody and Alexander Tsaltas Jr., of Carmichael, CA; a sister, Donna Smyrnios of Peabody, his granddaughter Kristen Biro whom he cherished, adored and was the love of his life; a sister-in-law, Stacey Tsaltas of Danvers; many nieces and nephews. His siblings Mary Ashley, Electra “Ella” Dimantides, Kelly Kadin, Theodore, Charles and Orestes “Rusty” Tsaltas predeceased him. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, May 24, 2008 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 A.M. with a service scheduled for 10 A.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. A family burial of ashes will be held at a later date.
