Obituary of Morris Gibeley

Morris Gibeley, 98, of Boca Raton, Florida and formerly of Salem, died Saturday evening at Stratford Court of Boca Points in Boca Raton Florida following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Alice (Pelchat) Gibeley. Born in Turkey, he was the son of the late Robert and Fannie (Behar) Gibeley. In his youth, he immigrated to the United States and settled in New York City. In the 1940’s he settled in Salem where he lived until 2006. He has resided in Boca Raton Florida for the past 2 years. While living in Salem, he worked for the city of Salem for over 38 years as a police officer, retiring in 1975. Prior to his employment with the city, he served his country during World War II with the United States Navy and was Honorable Discharged in March of 1946. Morris was a longtime member of Temple Tisereth Israel in Peabody and served as an Elder. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Patricia Gibeley of Salem and Naples, Florida, a daughter, Shirley Laakso of Boca Raton, Florida, a sister, Vickie Linsky of Peabody, five grandchildren, Thomas and Allison Laakso, Marissa Delinks, Michael and Marc Gibeley, ten great grandchildren and by his dearest friend Carmen Caprio of Boca Raton, Florida. He was the brother of the late Joe Gibeley. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday at 11:30 AM at the Family lot at Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Vitas Innovation Hospice Care, 1901 South Congress Ave, Suite 420, Boynton Beach, FL, 33426, Attn Team 302.
