Obituary of Edward L. Wilchinski
Edward L. Wilchinski 80 years of Peabody, husband of the late Virginia Penny (Atwood) Wilchinski, died Thursday morning at the Masconomet Healthcare Center in Topsfield.
Mr. Wilchinski was born November 7, 1924 in Peabody son of the late Laurenti and Irene (Kwatkowski) Wilchinski. He was raised in Peabody, played basketball and football during his school years graduating from Peabody High School class of 1942. During WW II he served in the United States Navy as an Aviation Radioman Second Class with Patrol Squadron 211.
Prior to his retirement in 1980, Mr. Wilchinski was employed for 38 years as a supervisor at GTE Sylvania in Danvers. After his retirement he moved to Milton NH, became active at Sacred Heart Parish and the Young at Heart Club in Milton. He was an active member and Grand Knight in 1984 - 1985 of the K of C Council 10662 in Farmington NH and member of the American Legion Post in Rochester NH. He was an avid Peabody High football fan, enjoyed bowling, softball, fishing, golfing and gardening. What he enjoyed the most was to share his precious love with his wife Penny .
He is survived by 3 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Donna and Terry Lee of Peabody, Bill and Judy George of Beverly and Linda Wilchinski of Milton NH; a son, Edward L. Wilchinski Jr. and his wife Sally Wilchinski of Dover DE; 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was pre deceased by his siblings Clarence Butch Wilchinski, Gloria Crossman and Lydia Hayes.
His memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St. location, Peabody. Relatives and friends may pay their respects Tuesday from 10 - 11 a.m. Burial of ashes at St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Masconomet Healthcare Center, Activities program, 123 High St., Topsfield MA 01983.
