Obituary of Demi Tzortzis

Demi Tzortzis PEABODY—Demi (Metropolis) Tzortzis, 51, beloved wife of John George Tzortzis of Peabody, died peacefully Sunday at the North Shore Medical Center/Salem Hospital while in the presence of her family following a courageous and valiant battle with cancer. Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of James and Sophia (Ivaleotes) Metropolis of Danvers. She lived in Peabody for most of her life. She graduated from Peabody High School, and then from Salem State College with a degree in business. Mrs. Tzortzis worked as Mortgage Loan Officer with Countrywide, Chase Manhattan, and Wells Fargo throughout her career. Demi had a special and loving gift to connect with all the people she met throughout her life. A loving mother of three, humanitarian for many; only at the age of 51, she was brought to an end by a merciless disease. Demi spread her love and joy to everyone she came into contact with. No matter what the endeavor, she was always there to help. She remains in the hearts of her family as a fighter. Demi was one that fought 9 rounds and wanted to go 10 more. Even in the eyes of death, she stayed positive with no regrets and much love. She was active at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody where she was a Past Board Member, and was involved in the Greek Orthodox Youth Association (GOYA). Remaining busy with several endeavors, she also enjoyed visits to the gym and playing volleyball. She is survived by: her husband, John George Tzortzis of Peabody, with whom she shared 31 years of marriage; two sons George Tzortzis and James Tzortzis both of Winthrop; one daughter, Sophia Tzortzis of Newport, RI; her parents James & Sophia (Ivaleotes) Metropolis of Danvers, formerly of Peabody; two brothers, Mark Metropolis and Peter Metropolis both of Peabody; a sister and brother-in-law, Maria & Gary Nadeau of Danvers one niece and three nephews. It would be much appreciated if those who knew this wonderful woman would come and pay their respects at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody on Wednesday from 4 - 8 P.M. and to gather on Thursday at 9 AM from the funeral home followed by a Funeral Service at 10 AM in St. Vasilios Church, 7 Paleologos St. Peabody.
