Obituary of Walter H. Miller

Walter H. Miller, 91, of Peabody died Wednesday evening at the Renaissance Gardens Nursing Center at Brooksby Village. He was the husband of Helen (Sudol) Miller with whom he shared 69 years of marriage. He was born in Medford, Ma on August 24, 1916 the son of the late Timothy and Mary (Powers) Miller and was raised and educated there. He began a plumbing career with the US Navy in Charlestown and became an appraiser and repairman for US Naval vessels. He later moved to Portland, Oregon for 10 years working at the Kaiser Shipyard before moving back to Winchester, MA. He later lived in Reading for 18 years before moving to Peabody 7 years ago. He was associated with many plumbing companies in the Boston area including the P.W. Donohue Company and was a member for 60 years with the Gas and Plumbing Union Local 12 prior to his retirement. He then wintered in Port Charlotte, Florida and summered in Seabrook, NH. He also loved to build houses and had built his house in Winchester and also built 3 houses in Seabrook, NH. He was an avid golfer. Surviving him besides his wife are a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Rosemarie Miller of Lynnfield, a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn Ann and James Nagle of Reading, three grandchildren, Adrienne Miller of Lynnfield, Cheryl Benoit of Lowell, and Michael Benoit and his wife Mikaela of Reading, two great grandchildren, Caleb Benoit of Reading and James Benoit of Nashua, NH, a sister-in-law, Amelia Tuminiski of Methuen and many nieces and nephews. He was the grandfather of the late Melinda Benoit. A Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM at the Brooksby Village Chapel at 300 Brooksby Village Drive, Rt. 114 in Peabody. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Haverhill.
