John M. “Hawk” Marini
PEABODYJohn M. “Hawk” Marini, 59, beloved husband of Joyce (Griffin) Marini, died Tuesday afternoon at the Lahey Clinic North Medical Center in Peabody after being stricken at his home earlier that day.
Born in Stoneham, he was the son of the late Gerardo and Jennie (Cardarelli) Marini. He grew up in Malden, and graduated from Malden Catholic, Class of 1966. He then graduated with a bachelor degree in Finance, from Boston College, Class of 1970. He continued to stay active in the Malden community. He lived in Peabody for more than 25 years.
Mr. Marini started his career as a Warehouse Organizer with Ford Motor Company in Natick for 10 years. He was a Project Manager with Office Environments of New England, based in Boston, for 26 years until May of 2006.
“Hawk” loved sports, and was involved as a Player and Coach for over 25 years with several teams in the Malden Sunday Softball League, with the Malden Moose, East Side, Over 40 Italian American Club, and Casco Printing Raiders. He also was a Coach of the Tigers in Peabody Little League, was active with Boy Scouts, Troop 9 in Peabody at St. John’s, and was an Outer Guard with the Malden Moose Lodge, and loved travel, especially to Las Vegas from where he recently returned from vacation. He will be remembered for his love and dedication to his family and friends.
He is survived by: his wife, Joyce F. (Griffin) Marini of Peabody, with whom he enjoyed 38 years of marriage; a son, Michael J. Marini of Peabody; two brothers, Jerry Marini of Medford and Joseph Marini of Saugus; a sister-in-law, Marion Marini of Billerica; one nephew, Thomas Marini of Billerica; two great-nephews, Matthew & Jacob Marini of Billerica. He was preceded in death, besides his parents, by a brother and sister, Vincent Marini and Phyllis Marini.
A visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 to 8 P.M.
and Friday from 5 - 8 P.M.
in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St. location, Peabody.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 A.M. in St. John’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
