Obituary of Allen B. Caproni

Allen B. Caproni LYNNFIELD—Allen B. Caproni, 62, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading in the comforting presence of his family. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Albert and Lillian (Starion) Caproni. He grew up in Lynnfield and graduated from Lynnfield High School. He served a patriotic duty serving in the United States Army Reserves and National Guard during the Vietnam War. Mr. Caproni was the Director of Lynnfield Public Works for over 20 years, and recently was Director of Operations with Felix Marino Paving Company before his latest health issues. He enjoyed his professional career there because he loved working with Bobcats, Backhoes, and operating other equipment and machinery. Allen will be fondly remembered for his love of basketball. He was a coach for several high school girls teams, including Masconomet, Lynnfield, and AAU Baystate Games. He enjoyed the best privilege of coaching his daughter, Jennifer, through 8th Grade. Despite an earlier bout with health issues, he optimistically viewed that as a time to rest. His last diagnosis in April with Acute Leukemia displayed his gritty character as his determined will and battle will be remembered for the medical and his family record books. Allen was known as a loving father and grandfather, and he was a fighter loved by many. His pleasant character and “can-do” attitude of not complaining, along with his personality and loving laugh, will truly be missed by all. He is survived by: a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer & Jeremy Stinson of Raleigh, NC; two grandchildren, Cole and Brady Stinson of NC; a brother and sister-in-law, Albie & Karin Caproni of North Reading; two nieces and a nephew, Kathleen, Cheryl, Joe and their children as great-nieces & great-nephews; his very special friend and companion Eleanor Grant of Reading, and a multitude of wonderful friends. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 10 AM in the Trinity Evangelical Church, Haverhill St.m North Reading to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to either the Sawtelle House c/o VNA of Middlesex-East & Visiting Nurse Hospice, 607 North Ave, Suite 17, Wakefield, MA 01880 or to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 9 Erie Dr., Suite 101, Natick, MA 01760.
