Obituary of Sister Flavia (Mary Ernestine) Caliri, SND

Sister Flavia Caliri, SND, formerly Sister Mary Ernestine, 85, of 30 Jeffrey’ s Neck Road, Ipswich, died Friday afternoon at Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Roxbury, she was the daughter of the late Mario and Mary (Todaro) Caliri. She entered the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur at Waltham on August 2, 1943, professed her first vows on January 20, 1946 and her final vows on July 30, 1951. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree form Emmanuel College, he masters and PhD from Boston College and finally she received another master’ s degree in Romance Languages and Literature from Catholic University. Sister teaching ministries were in Boston, Salem, Somerville, Ipswich, and Emmanuel College. She is survived by a sister, Regina Foley and her husband Charles of Dedham and is also survived by many cousins including Jeanne Caristi of Braintree. She was the sister of the late Fortunata Caliri. Sister’ s Ministries were in Boston, Salem, Somerville, Ipswich, and Emmanuel College. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 3:00 PM in Our Lady of Queens Chapel, 30 Jeffrey’ s Neck Rd., Ipswich. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may pay their respects Monday from 1 to 2:45 PM in Our Lady of Queens Chapel. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Ipswich.
