Obituary of Bruno Louis Dubowicz

Bruno L. Dubowicz, 91, of Peabody, died suddenly Monday afternoon at Salem Hospital. He was the devoted husband of the late Blanche (Roy) Dubowicz with whom he shared over 47 years of marriage. Born and raised in Peabody, he was the son of the late Theodore and Victoria (Urbanski) Dubowicz. He was a life long resident of Peabody and attended Peabody Public Schools. Bruno served his country during World War II as a radio mechanic with the United States Army Air Core and was Honorable discharged in December 1945. After the war, Mr. Dubowicz worked at the A.C. Lawrence Leather Company in Peabody as a leather finisher until its closure, and then he worked for the State of Massachusetts until his retirement. He was an avid golfer and was a long time member of the Beverly Golf and Tennis Club. He was known as an excellent baseball player in Peabody and played for many years in the Cape Cod League. He was a member of the former Frisco Club in Peabody and a big Red Sox fan. He is survived by a daughter, Laurie Ann Hargreaves and her husband Calvin of Methuen, a son, Richard Fugere and his wife Elaine of Salem, NH, a sister, Helen Romanowicz, four grandchildren, Brian Fugere and his wife Kara of Flower Mound, Texas, Vincent Fugere and his wife Maria of Cranston, RI, Susan Bouchard of Epping, NH, and Sandra Reese and her husband Mark of Salinas, CA, and is also survived by seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Jennie Cynkus, Frances Halupowski, and Walter and Louis Dubowicz. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday August 5, 2008 at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility, followed a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Memorial donations can be made in his name to North Shore Elders Services, 152 Sylvan St. Danvers, MA 01923.
