Obituary of Raymond H. Graves
Raymond H. Graves Jr., 75, of Peabody, a retired captain of
The Massachusetts State Police, died Wednesday morning at his residence after a short illness. He was the husband of Caroline (Cotton) Graves with whom he shared 53 years
Marriage.
Born in Beverly on September 5, 1927, he was the son of the late Raymond H. and Myra (Fallis) Graves Sr. and had resided in Peabody most of his life.
He served with the U.S.Navy aboard the USS Brackett in WW 11 from 1944 to
1946 and later served with the U.S. Marine Corps in the Korean War from 1950 to 1951.
He received his associate degree from the North Shore Community College in 1973.
He joined the Mass. State Police in 1956 serving 21 years receiving many letters
Of commendation before retiring as a captain In 1977. He then became an investigator with Bartlett Consolidate in 1978 and later served as the director of the Mass. Highway Safety Bureau under Gov. Edward King. He then became head of security at General Electric Co. in Burlington and later as plant security at the Lynn facility prior to his retirement 6 years ago.
He enjoyed being with his family and grandchildren and using his digital camera.
Surviving him besides his wife are 3 sons and daughters-in-law, John Graves and his
Wife, Anne Mc Donald of Orleans, Ma., Bobby Graves and his wife Ann Peabody of Peabody and Ned and Deb Graves of Lowell; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Tim Callahan of Milton, Ma., a step-son, Richard Bailey of Fall River, Ma. 12 grandchildren, Dustin, Tim and Andy Graves and Corey Coleman all of Orleans, Joey Graves of Peabody, Caroline, Susie, Timmy, John and Erin Callahan all of Milton, Richard Bailey and Cindy Roy both of Me. and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Saturday at 8:15 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody location followed by Services in
St. John s Church, Peabody at 9:00 a.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
Visiting hours on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
