Obituary of Irving Henry James

Irving H. James, 93, of Peabody, died early Sunday morning at the Pilgrim Rehab Center in Peabody following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Ruth (Hulbert) James. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Arthur and Irene Mae (Wood) James. He was raised and educated in Peabody and was graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1934. After high school, he attended Wentworth Institute in Boston. After attending Wentworth, he went to work for the General Electric Company working in both Lynn and Everett Plants as a Planner for over 45 years, retiring in 1987. Irving was also a longtime and devoted member of the Jordan Lodge AF & AM of Peabody and was a 33rd degree Mason. He also was a long time Boy Scout Master in Peabody for Troup 2 and 38 at the Veteran’s of Foreign War Hall in Peabody. He is survived by a son Dwight James of Georgetown, two grandchildren and five great grandchildren, and by the many friends and former boy scouts in Peabody. A Masonic Service will be held on Tuesday at 1:30 PM at the family graveside in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
