Obituary of Mary C. (Bennett) Shaw
Mary E. (Bennett) Shaw, 73, of Peabody, died Sunday at the Essex Park Nursing Home in
Beverly with her family by her side after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Neil Shaw.
She was born in Danvers on May 27, 1935, the daughter of the late John and Hilda (Doyle) Bennett and had resided in Salem before moving to Peabody 48 years ago.
She was a graduate of
St. James High School in Salem and also attended Salem State and the Chandler Secretarial School in Boston.
Mary had been an aide with the Peabody School Department with the Special Education division for 25 years.
She had been an active member of St. John’s Church and belonged to the Ladies Sodality and also volunteered at the Thrift shop there. She had been a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Danvers Chapter.
Surviving her are a son Brian Shaw of Peabody, two daughters and a son-in-law, Jennifer and Philip Zaimes and Laurie Shaw all of Peabody, a sister and brother-in-law, Joan and David Powers of West Peabody, her two grandchildren, Demetri and Lauryn Zaimes of Peabody, several nieces and nephews, and her favorite dog Brady.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’s Church, Peabody at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
