Obituary of Joseph Marci
Joseph Marci, 91, of Peabody, died Friday evening
At his residence after a long illness. He was the husband of Brigida (Mangiafico)
Marci with whom he shared 70 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Siracusa, Sicily, Italy on October 25, 1910, he was the son of
the late Paul and Josephine (Ciarcia) Marci and had been resided in Peabody for
the past 47 years.
He had been a tanner With the former Verza Tannning Co. of
Peabody for 18 years prior to his retirement 25 years ago. He enjoyed growing
Grapes and making wine and had been a member of St. Michael’ s Society of
Medford.
During WW 11, He was a member of the Italian army and was a
Prisoner of war in Checkoslovakia.
Surviving him besides his wife are 3 sons and 2 daughters-in-law, Sebastian
And Patricia Marci of Salina, Ks., Salvatore and Anick Marci of Lawrence, Ma.
And Paul Marci of Indianapolis, In.; a daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Joseph
Lenares of Peabody; 7 Grandchildren, Maria Molica and Cristina Lenares both of
Peabody, Bridget Santo of Danvers, Michele Marci of Lawrence, John S. Marci of
Pa., and Joseph E. Marci of Richmond, Va., and Lisa Marhefka of Morgantown, W.Va
And many nieces and nephews. He was the father of late Paul Marci .
His Funeral will be held on Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. from the
Conway, Cahill - Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility followed
By a funeral Mass in St. John’ s Church, Peabody at 9:00 A.M. Burial in St. Mary’ s
Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours on Monday from 5:00 until 9:00 P.M, Relatives and
Friends kindly invited. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of the
Northshore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, Ma. 01923.
