Obituary of Peter Delivorias

Peter Delivorias, 74, died of cancer on Sunday August 17 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by his family including his wife, Nancy (Zabielski) Delivorias, with whom he shared 44 wonderful years of marriage. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late James and Anna (Apostolopus) Delivorias and younger brother to his sisters Alexandra and Mary. Peter was a graduate of Peabody High School and the University of Massachusetts. He spent most of his career as a scientist and engineer, earning admission to the Engineering Hall of Fame for numerous patents, but his true passion was spending time with his family and friends. After college and his service to his country in the Korean Conflict, and a few years living in New Jersey, Peter returned to his hometown in 1976 to raise his family and be an active member of the community in which he established numerous lifetime friendships. In addition to his wife Nancy, Peter is survived by his daughter Karen Guilmette and her husband Stephen of Boxford and their children, Megan, Brooke, and Sara, and his daughter Linda Delivorias, Esq., and her partner Mary Konder of Maryland and their children, Benjamin and Kathryn. He also leaves behind his sister, Alexandra (Delivorias) Tingus of Peabody and numerous cousins and friends who loved him dearly. Peter is predeceased by his sister Mary. A Family Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 25, at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody at 11:00 AM to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to one of Peter’s favorite causes, the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind, 371 East Jericho Turnpike, Smithtown, NY 11787.
