Obituary of Jeannette S. (Lilley) Leach

Jeannette S. (Lilley) Leach, 91, of Rockport and formerly of Alton Bay, New Hampshire and Peabody, died Tuesday August 19, 2008 at the Den-Mar Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Rockport. Born in Boston, on April 9, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ella (Sherman) Lilley. She grew up in Arlington and later, Winchester. She was a graduate of the Bryant & Stratton Business School in Boston. Jeannette had several jobs during her life, using her business skills, especially her shorthand. Her last position was with Endicott Junior College in Beverly, assisting the president of the college. She married Kenneth T. Leach on June 7, 1942 and moved to West Peabody, where the built a home and raised a family. Jeannette was an active member of the West Congregational Church, and was a member of the Ladies Aid Society, often assisting with church events, such as the annual “Street Fair” and other social/philanthropic events. She was also a member of the church bowling league. She and her husband were members of the Couples Club, which met at the former Cy Tenney Hall in West Peabody. In 1975, they moved to Alton Bay, NH where they enjoyed Lake Winnipesauke and Mt. Major for the remainder of their years. She is survived by her sister, Frances L. Keller of Marblehead, her daughter, Linda J. Libert and her husband Larry of Rockport, her son, Raymond B. and his wife Rose Leach of Phoenix, AZ, as well as her two grandchildren, Daniel H.T. Leach and Christina G.A. Leach, both of Phoenix, AZ, her nephew, Charles Keller of Rangeley, ME, and by her niece, Cynthia Weeks and her family of Pinehurst, NC. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth T. Leach. Services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
