Obituary of N. "Niki" (Creeden) Quinn
N. “Niki” (Creeden) Quinn, 77, of Peabody, died peacefully Monday evening at the Hunt Retirement and Nursing Home in Danvers surrounded by her family after an eight year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was the wife of ret. Peabody Police Captain Edward D. Quinn with whom she shared 53 years of marriage.
She was born in Danvers on July 29, 1931, the daughter of the late John D. and Lillian C. (Benson) Creeden and shortly after birth moved with her family to Portland, Maine.
She was a graduate of Deering High School in Portland in 1949 and attended Westbrook Junior College. She began working with the USF & G Insurance Agency in Portland for 5 years prior to her marriage.
She then moved to Peabody in 1955 and was first employed at the former A.C. Lawrence Leather Co. in Peabody. After raising her family, she became the office manager at the Dental office of Dr. Irving Marcus D.D.S for 20 years prior to her retirement.
She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She was active in the North Shore Players and the Lynnfield Spotlighters drama group helping in Set Design and in acting. She also sewed her children’s clothing when they were young.
She had been active in St. Adelaide’s Church and taught CCD classes there.
Surviving her besides her husband are her four children, David Brian Quinn and his wife Jessica of Lehigh Acres, FL, Peabody Firefighter Edward D. “Ted” Quinn and his wife Jill of Peabody, Karen Q. Holland of Georgetown, MA and Andrea C. Myers and her husband James A. Myers of Lyman, Me.,her grandchildren Shaun P., Sarah P. and Meaghan Quinn, Kayla, Anna and Lilah Quinn, Timothy, Nicoline and Sheridan Holland and Edward and Robert Myers and other family members Thomas Holland and Paula Quinn and several nieces and nephews.. She was the sister of the late Camilla Lunn.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn ST., Peabody facility. Her funeral will be held on Friday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Adelaide’s Church, Lowell St., West Peabody at 10:00 AM. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Friends of the Peabody Community Life Center, 79 Central St., Peabody, MA 01960 or to Alzheimer’s Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472 in her memory.
