Obituary of Gertrude L. (O'Brien) Oleks

Gertrude L. (O’Brien) Oleks, 87, of Yarmouth Maine and formerly of Cape Cod and Peabody, died Wednesday at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late John T. Oleks who died in 2001. Born in Peabody on October 11, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Cornelius and Irene (Stapledon) O’Brien. She was a long time resident of Peabody before retiring to Cape Cod in 1981. She attended Schools in Peabody and was a graduate of St. John’s Parochial School, class of 1938. She was the mother of Jeanne M. Lowd of Yarmouth, Maine with whom she made her home since moving to Maine from Cape Cod in 2002, Grandmother of Courtney E. (Lowd) Breen of Rochester, NH and John F. Lowd of Bloomfield, NJ, Great Grandmother of Emma, Joshua, and Regan Breen, mother of John Oleks of Massachusetts and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Virginia (Durkee) Michaud of Danvers, Elizabeth McCarthy of Salem, and Robert O’Brien of Peabody. Her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Ann’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
