Obituary of Joan "Bunny" (Amoroso) Bavaro

Joan “Bunny” (Amoroso) Bavaro, 71, of Peabody, died Tuesday evening at her home after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Salvatore Bavaro who died three years ago. She was born in Everett on February 13, 1937, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Mitchell) Amoroso and was raised there graduating from Everett High School. She later graduated from Salem State College and first began teaching in the Everett School System. After moving to Peabody she taught in the Peabody school system at the Thomas Carroll School for 20 years before her retirement in 2002. She loved to travel but what brought her most joy was being surrounded by her family and friends and especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her three children, James Bavaro of Peabody and Robert and his wife Theresa Bavaro of Everett, MA, and her daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Michael Rice of No Andover, a brother, Lawrence Amoroso of Houston, TX., her six grandchildren, Amanda, Anthony and Christopher Bavaro all of Everett and Alexander, David and Jason Rice of No Andover and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Rita, Robert , Louis, John and Edward Amoroso, Helen Dean, and her twin sister Carol “Wink” Scacchi. A Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Adelaide’s Church, West Peabody at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 in her memory.
