Obituary of Roland C. Gauthier, Jr.
Roland C, Gauthier, Jr. 66, of Beverly and formerly of Lynn and Peabody, died Friday morning at the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Claire (Boyarsky) Gauthier with whom he shared over 36 years of marriage.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Roland C. Gauthier Sr., and Dorothy (Moquin) Gauthier. He was raised and educated in Peabody and attended Peabody Public Schools. Upon marry his wife Claire, he moved to Lynn where he resided for 3 years and has spent the last 34 years living in Beverly.
After High School, he joined the National Guard and served two years from 1960 until 1962. He worked in the leather industry for over 30 years, first with AC Lawrence in Peabody and later with Salem Suede in Salem.
He was a member of the Franco- American Club and the Moose Lodge, both in Beverly. Roland enjoyed Antique Cars and working on cars, he also enjoyed fishing and doing carpentry work on the side. Roland was an exceptional friend to all who knew him and loved him.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Monika Gauthier of Mt. Pleasant, SC, a daughter, Christine McKenna of Lynn, a brother, Richard Gauthier and his fiancé Marie of Hillsboro, NH, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lynda and Stephen Goldstein of Peabody and Renee and Stanley Roy of Beverly, a sister-in-law, Nancy Gauthier of Cherryfield, ME, a brother-in-law, Bernard Boyarsky of Salem, two grandchildren, Daniel McKenna and Lydia Gauthier, and an expected grandson due in December, and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Roland C. Gauthier III, and brother of the late Robert Gauthier.
Following cremation a graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the family lot located in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, 185 Lake Street, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
