Obituary of Alex C Silvagni

Alex C. Silvagni, 85, of Peabody and formerly of Lynnfield, died unexpectedly Friday evening at his home. He was the husband of the late Monita (Fournier) Silvagni and former husband of Mary Mooney. Born in Ortona Dei Marsi, Italy, he was the son of the late Alexander and Rose (Castrucci) Silvagni. He was raised in Boston and attended Boston Latin School. He later lived and raised his family in Lynnfield and, for the past 14 years, he has lived in Peabody. He was a veteran of World War II, who served in the Pacific Fleet with the United States Navy. After the war, he attended and graduated from Suffolk University. Embarking on what became a 30 plus year career with General Motors, he retired over 20 years ago as Regional Sales Manager for the AC Delco Division of General Motors. He was an avid recreational boater over most of New England and was previously a member of the U.S. Power Squadron. He had a life long passion for the arts, history, poetry and politics. Alex is survived by his loving children, Marc and his wife Suzanne Silvagni of Beverly, Sanders and his wife Pamela Silvagni of Manchester, NH, Silvia and her husband Paul Von Sacken of Sandown, NH, his step son Wayne Miller of Deerfield, FL, his loving and devoted grandchildren Heather, Gabriella, Juliana, Sabrina, and Jessica, and he is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Cecilia Caruso, Joanne Schaefer, and Joanna Silvagni. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in St. John’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in Blue Hills Cemetery, Braintree.
