Obituary of Lucien J. Gallant

Lucien J. Gallant (FLAG PLEASE) PEABODY—Lucien J. Gallant, 83, beloved husband of Edna (Hebert) Gallant, died unexpectedly on Monday evening at the North Shore Medical Center Salem Hospital. Born in Ipswich, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Georgiana (Pitre) Gallant. He lived in Salem in his youth where he attended schools. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during World War II, the Naval Reserve at peace, then another Call of Duty with the Marines during the Korean War. Mr. Gallant worked as a Pattern Maker by trade in the shoe manufacturing industry. He worked with Thom McCanns, and was mostly with Converse in Wilmington for many years before retiring nearly 18 years ago. Lucien will be remembered as living a great example to his family for commitment and dedication, a wonderful father, grandfather and uncle, and a loving husband to Edna. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 507 in Lynn, was involved with the VA Support Group on Causeway St. in Boston, and a member of the Franco-American Club of Beverly. He enjoyed camping in Madbury, NH, golfing anywhere, and social gatherings of family and friends. He is survived by: his wife, Edna (Hebert) Gallant of Peabody, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage; his children and their spouses, Donna & Paul Moynihan of Salem; Edward & Cynthia Gallant and Denise & Dennis Mentus, both of Peabody, Andrew & Robin Gallant of Lynn, and Linda & Dana Jackson of Salem; fifteen grandchildren, Danielle, Nathaniel, Katie Moynihan, Owen and Heather Gallant, Jennifer & her husband Mike Martins, Nicole and Andrew Mentus & fiancee Katie, Erin and Mike Gallant, Lisa, Eric & his wife Michelle, Kristen, Kelly, and Bryan Jackson & six great-grandchildren; he was one of 12 brothers and sisters, and two living are Andrew Gallant of Peabody and Charles Gallant of Georgetown; his beloved Dutchess the Family Dog, and many nieces and nephews. ving are Andrew Gallant of Peabody and Charles Gallant of Georgetown; his beloved Dutchess the Family Dog, and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Friday from 5 to 8 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Saturday at 9:30 from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Peabody. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Please make memorial donations to a charity of one’s choice.
