Obituary of Sr. Marie Constance Walsh S.N.D.

Sr. Marie Constance Walsh SND 92 yrs., died Wednesday at the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur residence in Ipswich. Sr. Walsh was born Constance Jeanne Walsh on August 8, 1912 in Brighton daughter of the late Edward and Gertrude (O’ Brien) Walsh. Sister entered the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur novitiate on February 5, 1933 at Waltham, professed her first vows on July 30, 1935 and her final vows in July of 1941. Sister received her AB from Emmanuel College and her MA from Boston College. Sr. Walsh’ s ministries were at Emmanuel College, Roxbury, Lawrence, Lowell, Dorchester and Beverly. Sister is survived by a nephew, Charles Cawley of Wilmington DE; a niece, Constance Devanney of Swampscott, was also the great aunt of Michael Cawley, Maureen Cawley Rhodes, great grandaunt of Charlie and Emma Cawley, Julia and Tommy Rhodes and her extended family the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. Pre deceased by her siblings John Walsh, Kathryn Tulis, Ruth Cawley and Gertrude Martin. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 3 p.m. in Our Lady Queen Chapel, 30 Jeffrey’ s Neck Rd., Ipswich. Relatives and friends may pay their respects Friday from 1 to 2:45 p.m. in Our Lady Queen Chapel. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Ipswich. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur Retirement Fund, 30 Jeffrey’ s Neck Rd., Ipswich MA 01938.
